A wedding day goes by in a blur. The rituals, the relatives, the music and the hundred small moments in between are over in a few hours. As a wedding photography studio in Coimbatore, our job at Sanker Photography is to make sure none of those moments are lost. Here are ten moments we always look for at every wedding we cover, from temple weddings to big mandapam functions.
1. The bride getting ready

The quiet hour before the muhurtham is often the most emotional. Jewellery being fixed, the saree pleats being set, a mother adjusting the jasmine – these candid frames tell the story of the day before it even begins.
2. Bridal makeup and details

Close-up portraits show off the bridal makeup, the jewellery and the expressions that a wide shot misses. We use soft light so the skin tones stay natural.
3. The venue – temple or mandapam

Many Coimbatore weddings happen at temples or traditional mandapams. We always capture the venue itself, because years later the place is part of the memory.
4. The rituals

Every Tamil wedding ritual has meaning – the kasi yatra, the oonjal, the kanyadhanam and the thali. Our traditional photographer covers every ritual in order, while the candid photographer looks for the reactions around it.
5. The groom’s emotions

Grooms are often forgotten in wedding albums. A nervous smile or a quiet prayer before the thali tells as much of the story as any posed portrait.
6. Family blessings

Grandparents, uncles, aunts and friends blessing the couple – these are the photos families come back to most. We make sure every important person is in at least one good frame.
7. Couple portraits with garlands

Right after the ceremony, we take the couple aside for ten minutes of relaxed portraits while they are still in their wedding garlands.
8. Candid in-between moments

A laugh with a cousin, a glance at the groom, a tired smile – candid wedding photography is about these unplanned moments, and they often become the favourite photos in the album.
9. The reception

The reception has a completely different mood – new outfits, stage lighting and lots of guests. We plan lighting in advance so the couple looks their best on stage and off it.
10. A creative night portrait

If time allows, we end the day with one creative portrait using night lights or the venue’s architecture. It makes a perfect cover photo for the album.
